  • “Do You Wonder About God” is an accessible and engaging picture filled book for younger readers and older readers.  The cited scriptures are written at a 5th to 7th-grade reading level with the story written on 2nd grade level. The book is organized in a way that is easy to follow, with alternating pages of story and supporting scriptures. 

    Two reading levels with simple sentence structures and vocabulary on one page, that is expanded in depth with more complex sentences and vocabulary on the following page. The format helps children to increase understanding of varied sentence structures, and new vocabulary. 

 

Teach Phonics and Develop  Fluency

Begin teaching basic phonics rules about how letters 'fit together' in patterns.
-ck, -tch, -dge, -ke, ge, -es, -ing, -ed, etc.
 
Begin using repeated reading as a way to build reading rate and accuracy.  It only takes 5 to 10 minutes a day, which yields rewards within just a few weeks.
